OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY
In the United States,
obesity has risen at an epidemic rate during the past
20 years. One of the national health objectives for
the year 2010 is to reduce the prevalence of obesity
among adults to less than 15 %. Research indicates
that the situation is worsening rather than improving.
The children are also
affected by this epidemic. As parents it's our
responsiblilty to see that we buy and eat ourselves
healthy food.
Start by serving them
three meals a day and at least two snacks. You can
also serve fruits and vegetables for snacks as well in
there meals.
Also to keep down
obesity among children is to reward them with
attention such as hugs, kisses, smiles, a pat on the
back, etc. instead of food. The price you pay for a
large bag of chips and a box of cookies you can buy
these items:
-
2 pounds of apples
-
1 pund of bananas
-
1 pund of carrots
-
3 pounds of potatoes
-
1 pund of peppers
