Big Foot Fruits was founded by Ernest Craw in 2003.  The idea for Big Foot Fruits came from Mr. Craw's desire to devise a way to promote a healthy way of eating while exercising.

Doctors, nutritionists, and dietitions all recommend eating lots of fruits and vegetables every day.  It is also recommended that people get at least modest amounts of exercise.

The thought of fruits and exercise together led Mr. Craw to design large pieces of fruit atop sturdy legs and feet.  He even designed some of them performing Kung Fu exercise poses.

Mr. Craw shared these ideas with his family, and so began the family business, Big Foot Fruits.

OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY

In the United States, obesity has risen at an epidemic rate during the past 20 years.  One of the national health objectives for the year 2010 is to reduce the prevalence of obesity among adults to less than 15 %.  Research indicates that the situation is worsening rather than improving.

The children are also affected by this epidemic.  As parents it's our responsiblilty to see that we buy and eat ourselves healthy food.

Start by serving them three meals a day and at least two snacks.  You can also serve fruits and vegetables for snacks as well in there meals.

Also to keep down obesity among children is to reward them with attention such as hugs, kisses, smiles, a pat on the back, etc. instead of food.  The price you pay for a large bag of chips and a box of cookies you can buy these items:
  • 2 pounds of apples
  • 1 pund of bananas
  • 1 pund of carrots
  • 3 pounds of potatoes
  • 1 pund of peppers

To know more about servings and a healthy and balanced meal choose a variety of foods frome several food groups.  Use the USDA's food Guide Pyramid for Young Children and Adults.
